A Tale of Two Cities

A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
409 pages
Historical Fiction

Originally published in 1859 and spanning between London and Paris, this famous book follows Charles Darnay, his beloved Lucie, her father Doctor Manette and others caught up in the French Revolution.

I just read this for the first time for the BTPL Classics Bookclub. Wow! The first 200 pages took some work to get through but the last 200 were hard to put down! Dickens reveals human nature with insightful comments. He also offers a crazy roller coaster ride and ultimately hope in troubled times. In times of extreme evil, we also witness extreme acts of courage and redemption. It was the best of times and the worst of times...

Recommended For: Classic book lovers. People looking for hope in troubled times.
