At Home with Madame Chic

At Home with Madame Chic: Becoming a Connoisseur of Daily Life by Jennifer L. Scott
285 pages
Non-Fiction

As I looked over the shelves of my at-home library, this easy and uplifting book caught my eye.

Since many of us (myself included) are staying at home these days due to the coronavirus, why not make our home lives as beautiful and graceful as possible? I'm a big fan of Jennifer L Scott and the Madam Chic series! In this book, the author encourages us to approach life at home the 'Madame Chic way' with tips and ideas for organizing and savoring a stylish life.

While applicable to every woman that keeps a home running, but I can't help but think of this book as the happy housewife handbook. The author relishes the homemaker role. She discusses the importance of finding joy in every day tasks, such as housekeeping work.

This book reveals the secrets to having a happy, fulfilling, and passionate life at home. Jennifer explains it’s possible to look stylish with minimal time and effort, a little forethought makes it possible to serve a home-cooked dinner every night, and details like music and scented candles can set the tone for the whole family’s evening.

Organized by the pleasures that can be found throughout the day, this charming and helpful book is full of ideas, playlists, recipes, beauty routines, and advice that can turn an irritating day into an enjoyable experience. An attractive, inspiring and gently challenging book.

Side note: The author vaguely expresses christian values in her books but is not an explicitly Catholic author. This book includes brief references to buddhist meditations, feng shui and positive energy but is otherwise Catholic friendly.

Recommended For: Elegant (and aspiring-to-be-elegant) Homemakers. Women temporarily at home.
